John M. Snyder

Data professional with years of experience, and diverse interests.

For more than I decade, I have used data, analytics, and technology to improve systems and processes. I have:

  • designed experiements/trials in a clinical setting and evaluated results to improve cancer care;
  • helped a multi-state healthcare organizations reduce costs, identify treatment gaps, and improve outcomes; and
  • consulted with school districts to identify and reward internal talent through data.

In that time, I have developed practical knowledge of data systems, machine learning, and artificial intelligence; and used it to collaborate with a diverse array of subject matter experts: physicians, researchers, executives, and administrators.

Current role: Data Scientist

I evaluate statistical models and design experiments in R--it has a leg up, having been developed by and for statisiticians. It is also excellent for rendering graphics and documents.

I make use of python's machine learning packages and benefit from its extensive general programming capabilities well exceeding those of R.

I write SQL queries to pull data at scale. I have also worked to develop databases and ETL processes for my own personal projects.

I find git indispensable for code development, as well as enabling collaboration like no other tool. I do my best to share my code (including this website) via github.

Bash is incredibly useful for orchestrating tasks, managing services, as well as navigating and managing file systems.

SAS is uniquely positioned in that it is the sole analytical language that guarantees its results, making it ideal for evaluating clincal trials.
